"E" Day Minus One

British Columbia votes tomorrow. Not me, Norma and I voted on Saturday in the Early Voting. We voted NDP. The latest polls show the race tightening up but Adrian Dix and the NDP are still in the lead. The Green party is taking away some traditional NDP votes and the Conservative Party is taking away some traditional Liberal votes.

Tomorrow will be interesting. The press is talking about the "Incumbent Effect" where last minute deciders will just vote for the incumbent Party because they are too lazy to look at alternatives. The BC "Liberals" have become so unpopular recently I do not think this will be too widespread. At least I hope this to be the case.

I am hoping that people who have traditionally voted NDP will do so again and will refrain from giving their vote to the Greens as this will only split the "left" vote and give us another four years of Liberal rule. That would be a disaster.

The race is tightening so if you have not already done so, get out tomorrow and vote for your NDP candidate. You will thank yourself when the results are in tomorrow night. You will be on the winning side!

  1. And yet there are so many others who think that 4 years of Dix & Co would also be a 'disaster'. It's no fun going into an election booth and holding your nose before you vote. Maybe there will be a move to proportional representation here in BC before too long, or at least preferred ballot. It would probably guarantee us coalition or at best minority governments, but it would make people feel their votes count for more.
Yea, I'm just trying to poke the anthill a bit...;)

    1. Most of those people have a name Rod. They are "Liberals" and would not be voting NDP in any case. "They" say that people flocked from BC under of the "disastrous" NDP Government but the fact is, the population of BC was higher when the NDP left than it was when they came in.

In the meantime, both of us have sons who left BC to work in Alberta under the "Liberals".

    2. My boys left 15 and 12 years ago. One of each, I figure, although I still think it was all Mike Harcourt's fault. Just kidding. I wish he'd been able to stick around much longer, actually.

    3. Time flies! Yes, good old Mike. I worked on his campaign for a short time when he ran for mayor of Vancouver.

  2. The next premier of BC will leave in disgrace, like all the others.
Left, right or in the middle makes no difference to BCers, they vote with their hearts in stead of their heads.
Te problem with NDPers is that they let their bleeding hearts go to their bloody heads.
    Respectfully...

    2. Peter, respectfully, your comment about NDP'ers sounds extremely condescending. Characterizing all NDP'ers as bleeding hearts who don't use their brains to vote is pretty shallow in my opinion. Let's assume for a second that conservative voter's use their brains to vote, o.k.? Given the results, I'd hoped for much better elected conservatives. Maybe just "a little heart" might help.

    3. The quote, "The problem with NDPrs is that they let their bleeding hearts go to their bloody heads" was coined by no other than Tommy Douglas, founder of the NDP, and the greatest Canadian ever.

  3. The polls open in just about 30 minutes and then it will be only 12 hours until I think Christy Clark and her bunch are history. The NDP will be a refreshing change from this bunch of bandits.

    1. What makes you all think that an admitted forger, liar, criminal would make such a good leader?

    2. Karl, In all the years of NDP Government I never remember seeing the RCMP removing truckloads of computers and files from the Parliament Buildings. The Premier and her former husband are right up to their elbows in the BC Rail scandal. The fact that the Liberal Government paid six million dollars for the legal costs of two government insiders charged with breach of trust tells us all we need to know about these guys operating under orders from their handlers.

Changing the date on a memo pretty much pales in the face of these kinds of bribes, payoffs and corruption that cost BC taxpayers untold millions/billions.

How much did the Liberal HST lie cost you?
