Last Winter Expenses

It just occurred to me that I never posted our expenses for last winter. So here they are (in Canadian Dollars):

$16,654 divided by the 175 days we were away this amounts to $95 (Can) per day. In US this would be $12,845 divided by 175 = $73 per day in US funds.

In addition to this we had service on the motorhome fridge and furnace before we left ($800), batteries for the motorhome ($230) and new tires for the Honda in Texas ($640).

Also not included were the hotel and condo (our share) expenses when we drove down to San Miguel de Allende with Juan and Chris. This amounted to $1,495.

Casino gambling, we actually made a $145 profit.

Croft's clothing was well under $100 while Norma's were well over $100. Neither are included here.

  1. I assume your expenses are in Canadian dollars.
Not bad for a 6 month vacation in a warmer climate. We spent about 4 k less, less camping fees (BLM land), no ferry, less dining out, and less insurance. But the bottom line was we enjoyed the winter.

    1. Thanks George, yes my original figures were in Canadian funds. I have edited the post to reflect American equivalents.

  2. Can't hardly live for that by staying home. And besides, it's hard to get a tan in Campbell River in the winter.

    1. You are right Rod. We probably would have spent more than that staying home for the winter.

  3. Just went through our 2015 expenses. We are about 2500 higher than you, but that includes higher RV park fees, as well as 2k of cash advances that we use for Mad Money, and things like propane. Our medical is way less than yours, as is food and Booze, but surprisingly our entertainment budget is way higher. That is due to the shows, theater and music events we attend.
Still and all, it's money well spent.
