Elian Gonzalez

Remember Elian Gonzalez, the young Cuban boy who was taken by his mother and her boyfriend in an attempt to go to Miami? The boat sank on the way but young Elian survived only to be turned into a puppet in an international power play by his relatives in Miami who wanted him to remain in the USA. His Cuban father contended that the mother took him away without his consent and that his rightful place was back in Cuba. USA Courts agreed and the boy was taken from his Miami relatives at gunpoint and returned to his father in Cuba.

Elian is now 17 and lives in a small house with his father and brother. Rolly drove us past his house "somewhere in Cuba" but asked that I take no photos as there is still a fear that CIA financed Cuban exiles from the USA would try to kidnap him. He is very happy in Cuba and is studying to become a Naval Officer.
