JFK
John Fitzgerald Kennedy (May 29, 1917 – November 22, 1963)
I was in college when it happened. I went home and watched TV with my mother all day. It took a long time to process but that was the day I realized that good does not always triumph over evil, that sometimes the good guys do not win. That day changed me as a person as much as it changed the Country.
I was a little younger, 11 years old to be exact living in Evanston, IL. November 22, 1963 has impacted me incredibly over the last 50 years. For me, it was one of the saddest days ever and continues to be with me. I always wonder how much better we would be off as a nation today, if JFK had lived and continued on for one more term as president.
I was a little younger, at 11 years old living in Evanston. November 22 was a sad, depressing day even though I was really too young to know what really happened. 50 years later, with the continued concealment of the details of that day, JFK stays with us as a larger than life icon. I can only think of how much better off we would be today if he had lived and served another term.
Wish what? He had many of the same core principles as (Tea Party) Republicans today. He believed in low taxes. He was nothing like the far left Democrats in congress today.
We will be long gone when they release the rest of the story in 50 more years. A sad event that truly changed the course of history and also reinforced the dark side of government.
Amen!
