Safe and sound in Anderson, CA. A non-eventful drive. Why does that surprise everyone (including me)? This is the RV friendly Walmart that has an RV bay for oil changes. I walked over when we arrived at 1 PM but they were just closing for Thanksgiving. We will park and wait till morning to get it done.
The weather is so much better here, starting to get warm. T-shirt weather. Life Is Good!
Life is good yes, glad to hear you are back on the road again.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the land of sunshine and cheap booze!!!
ReplyDeleteOff topic but I noticed you have a 'support Sioux Nation' link on the right hand side of your blog. Did you know the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Chairman, Dave Archambault, actually owns the local gas station? So he and his family profit from fossil fuels - the same thing he's protesting, on behalf of the tribe. Pretty hypocritical.
The Sioux are not opposed to gas but to the bulldozing of historic, sacred sites and tribal burial grounds. The other issue is the drinking water supply which is threatened by the construction of and by the pipeline itself. Peaceful protesters are being cut down by militarized police and armed "Blackwater" style private security forces. It is their land and they do not want pipelines. I support them in their fight.
DeleteYes, I understand what the alleged argument is. They don't want pipelines in their back yard, yet pipelines carry the product this guy profits from at his gas station. He doesn't sell windmills or solar panels. He sells GAS. I view this as hypocritical. NIMBY. Not in My Back Yard. Wonder if the pipelines would be approved if enough money exchanged hands.
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to agree to disagree on this issue.
But I would like to see all these O&G protesters (peaceful or not) live thru one cold winter WITHOUT the convenience of cheap fossil fuels. It's easy to stand on high moral ground when you can stay warm and well fed with unlimited access to oil and gas.
Well the protesters are surviving being sprayed with water hoses in sub-freezing temps without access to fossil fuels for heat. Did you notice what happened to that Haida leader who shook hands with the LNG folks? Probably after an offer of cash? He was kicked out of the band. Not everything is for sale. You are right though, we can disagree on this one.
