The "BC Bud" Bus

Norma, Sharon and I were walking to dinner last night when we saw this "Sensible BC" bus parked on the street gathering signatures to try to force the legalization of marijuana onto the ballot. We stopped to sign.

Pot is "almost" legal in Canada. It is illegal on the books but is hardly ever prosecuted. If a cop sees someone smoking a joint he will just say, "What? Are you stupid? Don't do that in front of me!" and walk away.

I don't smoke it for two reasons. 1) I simply do not like the taste of it and 2) I don't like the way it "sneaks up" on me. It is no different than drinking but I feel I have more control over how impaired I get with booze. With marijuana, there is more of a time laps between when you smoke and when you feel it. Plus, different types have different strengths so you do not know how "stoned" you are going to be when it hits.

Having said that, I have nothing against it or anyone who smokes it and I completely reject the "Gateway Drug" argument.

    1. Thanks Bill. I bought several of these in Cuba and in Mexico. They substitute nicely for "dressing up" clothes. They fit my casual lifestyle well.

  2. I'm with you, this "war on drugs" theme targeting mari-jane is complete insanity. Seems if it were legal as alcoholic beverages, it would be a win win for all involved...except BIG government.

  3. Agreed. I don't smoke it, could care less if anyone else does. Of all the things in the world that need fixing, legalize and move on to bigger and more important things. The prison system is clogged with pot smokers and petty pot dealers and privately-run prisons has become big business.

I'm sure would be details to work out like smoking on the job, etc.

  5. Haven't smoked anything in a long, long time. Including any "wacky tabaky". Not sure of the spelling.
Still not sure why it's illegal. Such a joke. Tying up the constabulary (not to mention our jail cells) is just silly.
I'm pretty sure caffeine is my "gateway" drug. *snort*

    1. Not to mention the courts and lawyers and the hourly cost of all the helicopters flying all over BC keeping track of the hundreds of pot farms. Lets control it and put the profits and taxes into the health care system.

    2. As long as Harper runs the County I think he'll do whatever he can to keep pot illegal. He's not very progressive after all.
I agree that it's time to get the profits into the public purse rather than the various Motorcycle gangs.
