We drilled about a hundred holes in two large planter buckets, sank them into the lawn and filled them with rocks from the beach. Hopefully they will drain into the sandy soil around them and handle all but the heaviest rainfalls. I anchored the rain chains to the bottom of the buckets so they will not blow around in the wind. Further modification "might" be required.

Nice! Retirement business coming? :^)
ReplyDeleteSure, if I could live on 4 or 5 dollars an hour! :(
DeleteLooks like it will work just wonderful.
Delete4-5 dollars and hour is about what I made in my restaurant on a good week. And we retired?
LOL. My dad was a union carpenter, usually a foreman, pretty high up on the income tree. When he retired he built a small shop in his garage and started making things for friends and neighbours. He finally gave it up after realizing that trying to compete with mass produced cabinets meant he was working for about $1 per hour.
DeleteWow! What a great deck! Cudos to all the many people it took to make it happen. I'm sure you will enjoy it for years to come.
ReplyDeleteThanks Don, we are more than pleased with it!
