Unexpected Stopover!

We left the Kananaskis Casino about 10:00 expecting to drive through to Revelstoke or maybe even Kamloops but such was not to be! We stopped at the Husky station in Golden to dump and clumsy me fell over the damn trailer hitch and ended up with two heavily bleeding knees and the end torn off one big toe! (No photos) :)

Not too painful but lots of blood thanks to the blood thinners! I finished dumping, hosed off all the blood and pulled into their huge truck parking area where Norma applied lots of alcohol, antibiotic cream and bandages. I will survive but we are staying parked here for the night. Ah, the pleasures of getting old(er)!

  1. There are some chores that i absolutely where shoes to do.
Pulling a 5th Wheel rather then a towed also means there is no Hitch to trip over.
Peroxide will work better at keeping infections away but Bactiene also helps in healing.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  4. Tequila taken internally helps with the pain.

  5. Even a good single malt would help the internal pain as well. I do have tequila though.

  6. Eric always drives in jean's and shoes...no matter what the temp. You never know what might come up on a roadside stop. Poor you!

  7. Yes, isn't getting older simply grand! I've lost track of how many times we say that to each other.

  8. Croft, my goodness, hope you are doing better. When you said you lost part of your toe, all I could think of was "find the piece torn off" and get to a doctor to have it sewn back on. The doc would also need to give you some antibiotics. You'll get home, just take it slow and plenty of rest stops along the way.

By the way, Les is at Folly Beach and getting ready to tour Charleston Tuesday on the hop-on hop-off trolley. He has the stamina for all the heat and humidity. We'll meet him for breakfast Wednesday morning on his way north. Before he leaves, he will be taught to use the word "ya'll" quite often (of course with an English accent).

    1. Hi Dee, the torn off piece is small and still sort of attached. Norma taped it back in place with a butterfly bandage so we shall see what happens. Unlike my knees, the toe does not hurt!

Nice y'all are meeting Les, you will like him. And yes, do try to get a few southern expressions into his vocabulary as well as a few grits into his stomach! Give him our best, we did not get to see him when he was on the Island.
