Baby Steps

I cleared out three of Norma's bedroom drawers and all three of her bathroom drawers in the en-suite. She used the en-suite while I used the main bathroom. I may move my stuff into the en-suite. I looked in the hall closet and it is LOADED with her coats and jackets! I mean loaded to the point where you cannot get your hand in to see what is there. I will have to get a large box to move them into until winter when there are charities asking for jackets for the homeless.

Brooks' ex-MIL called to say she was working on the granddaughters to come up and pick what they want out of Norma's clothes. If they can all agree on a date she will bring them up for a day or two.

I know I am slow, but it is a start!

  1. The journey of a thousand steps...

This is encouraging me to work on my own surpluses. One more sleeveless sweater into the donate pile.

  2. Check all the pockets. My Grama used to use her pockets to hide and keep stuff in. Now many, many years later I always check the pockets.

  5. Good job. It took me a year after my husband died to even open the closet door. How wonderful that family is coming to choose things that will be remembrances of Norma.......
I agree with the previous comment, "One day at a time".

  6. A tough job...brings tears to my eyes. I still have some of my Granny's clothes and special keepsakes. It will keep memories alive and give comfort to your granddaughters when they wear Norma's clothes.

  7. I had to breathe through this one. A difficult thing, I know. How lovely that others will be warmed by Norma's things, in more ways than one.

  8. It all takes time and yo are actually moving pretty quick at cleaning things out.
Everyone that goes through that has trouble with that because of the memories.

    It's about time.
