After touring the Comalcalco Ruins we took a drive to the Gulf of Mexico to try to find a seafood meal. The Paraiso Beach area is rapidly becoming the weekend playground for affluent Villahermosa families. There are hundreds of new houses along the beach and the waterfront restaurants are packed on the weekends. We found a nice spot with a floating deck out front where we ordered a camerone (prawn) cocktail for me and a jaibas (crab) cocktail for Norma. These bear no similarity to the seafood cocktails you see NOB. They are huge amounts of the seafood of your choice in a very light liquid tasting slightly of clams. It comes with a small plate of chopped onions, cilantro and salsa which you add to taste. They were very good but Norma, as usual, could not eat all of hers so We brought the remains home and I will make a huge crab sandwich tonight. You can tell the seafood is fresh when the fishermen are busy catching it twenty feet from the restaurant!
Tomorrow we leave for San Cristobal de Las Casas for two or three nights in a hotel. The motorhome will stay here in the RV park waiting for us.
In Villahermosa, Tobasco, life is good!
