Papa Hemingway Finds His Way Home

When Hemmingway bought his house in Key West he chose the house right across the street from the light house. This way, he reasoned, no matter which of his favourite watering holes he ended the night in, he could always find his way home.

If you are getting the impression that Papa was a drinker, I think you are right!

    In Hemingway's case it seemed to allow his creative talents to flow. It may also have been used to keep his other demons at bay, one of which led to his suicide in 1961.
