Sunset Rose

This is beside our front door. It very seldom survives the deer attacks but this year it looks like it may make it. It is a beautiful colour and comes from a bush that Norma's dad gave her many years ago.

Here is a more welcome garden visitor bellying up to the suet bar:

  1. Nice rose, and an interesting bird. Do you know what it is?

    1. I don't know what bird that is. They are around the suit quite a bit.

  2. A really nice rose. We have the same problem with rabbits going after the flowering plants. One year they chewed the plum bushes down to sticks, bark and all.

    1. I think rabbits might be a little harder to deal with than deer.

  3. It is a Northern Flicker Woodpecker, quite common in BC.

Norma's rose makes me miss my rose garden. Guess I can't quite have everything.

  4. Thanks Contessa, someone told us we had Flickers but I did not know which they were.

  5. FYI, both deer and rabbit are quite tasty... Get a gun!

  7. Bobbex is really the answer to deer problems. I watched a doe walk all through my garden here in Courtenay yesterday and she stopped and sniffed every flower and bush but didn't take one bite. I had put a very light spray on the garden about 3 weeks ago and it is still working really well. Norma's roses are beautiful!
