A Little Dose Of Reality

On October 8, Canadian Parliament voted 157 to 134 to join the US led campaign to bomb Isis in Iraq. Our prime minister had a big grin on his face as he stood to cast his vote amongst the childish clapping and cheering of his supporters. During the debate, he laughed at the opposition who argued against the motion to join the attack.

Are these "leaders" and their supporters so stupid as to not realize there are consequences to this war mongering? Do they not realize that thousands of innocent men, women and children are killed by these bombs, drones and fighter attacks that they laughingly voted in favor of conducting? Are they unaware that as many as 90% of the causalities in Iraq are non-combatants?

We send our soldiers to their country to kill their women and children and then are shocked when a couple of their supporters attack Canadians here in Canada. Did we really think we could keep this killing "over there" and away from our borders?

Are we stupid? Can we not see the connection? Wake up!

Can anyone remember a time when Canada prided itself as being "Peacekeepers"?

Laughing and cheering as we vote to kill Muslims:

Canada's prime minister, Stephen Harper, stands to vote in favour of a government motion to participate in US-led air strikes against Islamic State militants in Iraq.

  1. That is a snake pit in the Middle East. So long as the U.S. (and now Canada) decide to get into that snake pit they should expect repercussions. John McCain continues to lobby for sending troops back in. He said over the weekend that he would use his position on the Armed Services Committee to advocate sending ground troops into Iraq and Syria. This will only exacerbate the snake pit.

So just to be clear you do know that the goal of ISIS (ISIL) is to come to North America and kill all non-believers. Sure it won't happen overnight but I do have to say:

Are we stupid? Can we not see the connection? Wake up!

    1. The people we are killing are not card carrying ISIS / ISIL members. 90% of the dead are non-combatants with an unacceptable percentage of those being children. By killing these people we are turning their relatives and sympathizers into combatants. It is the stereotypical self fulfilling promise. So far "they" have killed two Canadians in Canada. How many of "them" have Canadians killed in Iraq and Syria?

I am patiently waiting for networks to spend all day on the killing of an Iraqi child by a Canadian fighter.

    1. Yes, causalities on either side are sad and unacceptable.

  4. I'm not sure yet that this deranged individual was acting on any misguided principle. It seems from some reports that he has a long 10 yr. history of drug abuse. Is he simply a lone wolf or part of a wider conspiracy? We'll find out more in the days to come.

I agree with you, Croft, on your point about Harper and his minions clapping and cheering about sending troops off to war to both kill and be maimed. What's wrong with these people. Even when military action is necessary (i.e. Canada comes under attack), it's never something anyone should laugh about. Just one more reason to vote this bozo out of office next year.

    1. It will be interesting to learn more about this individual. So far evidence points to mental illness. There may or may not be any connection to the previous intentional killing of a soldier by a hit and run driver.

As an aside, a friend is a fisheries officer and was told yesterday to stop wearing his uniform while on duty. It seems they think uniforms might be targets.

  5. So how much are we going to change about our lifestyle so that we don't "insult the poor misguided people"?

Are we going to keep changing everything? Are we going to stop wearing uniforms everywhere?

Or should we expect them to adapt to our way of life if they move to our countries?

    1. A big first step would be to stop killing their children. That would be a start and would probably go a long way to convince them to hate us less. That is the only thing we would have to change and no, they do not have to adapt to our way of life. Why should they?

    2. Agree with you 100 percent
Canadians should be emailing or talking to their MP.
      I am.

  6. How about they just adapt to the point where they don't kill every infidel? Is that okay?

As for killing their children we aren't doing that. Remember what Golda said.

"Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us."

The Palestinians seem to prefer that their children become suicide bombers than live.

    1. The people of the Middle East are far too busy killing each other off to get too concerned about us infidels. Islam is not the problem, the problem is religious fanatics both over there and here. Well. more in the US as we Canadians have managed to separate church and state. As a result we have no religious nutballs trying to take over our government.
