Meanwhile In Mexico...

Our friends Brian and Sue crossed at Laredo, Texas this morning heading into Mexico and after seven hours of crawling along in in a traffic jam they are spending the night in their motorhome, pulled off on the side of the road north of Monterrey in a snowstorm. No concerns, they have lots of food, propane, blankets, Internet, rum...

They are trying to get to San Miguel de Allende but the highway south of Monterrey is closed due to snow as well. It is going to be a frustrating couple of days for them.

There is snow in Brownsville and Corpus Christi, Texas as well as along the Big Bend Highway in Texas. I have to say I thought this winter might get off to a cold start this year.

  1. I drove in snow yesterday from the house to school. First time I´ve done that although we have had snow in Monterrey before this year the temps are below 0C. Tonight the forecast calls for high winds and -4C.

  3. Yep, snowed in Alpine, Texas yesterday or the day before. (Big Bend area). A couple inches. We get an inch or so each year on average, all typically in December.

  5. Tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 12th, I found out that there truly is a God, and my back-sliding Methodist self will be going to church this Sunday. I've stayed up late tonight to watch the returns for the Alabama US Senate race between Doug Jones and Judge Roy Moore. It was a race between (what I perceive as) good and the evil. Doug Jones is the fella who faced down the Ku Klux Klan in Birmingham, AL for the church bombings and put members of the Klux away for life after killing little girls. Roy Moore was a man who was appointed to the Alabama Supreme Court twice and subsequently impeached from the bench twice for not handing down court decisions in accordance with the Constitution. Recently, he was accused multiple times of pedophilia. Moore was heavily supported by Trump and Bannon. If Mr. Jones can handle the Klux, he will be a knight in shining armor in the US Senate.

  6. Between the weather in Mexico and the election in Alabama that old curse about 'may you live in interesting times' seems to be biting us all!

    1. I heard a theory that Darwinism is beginning to reverse itself. These interesting times seem to support that theory!
