When we were at Kathe’s last week Norma was taken by some cushions Kathe had on her chairs and sofa. They were made from huipiles, a heavy hand woven and embroidered garment worn by women in Guatemala. Kathy had picked up a few of these on a trip and offered to sell some to Norma. We went to her house today to see what she had. Each huipile would make two cushions so Norma bought five of them. These are very heavy garments and will last forever if some care is taken to keep them out of too much sun and rain. The circles are actually the neck hole and are filled with a patch of extra material from the back and front.
Here is Kathe’s beautiful house on Chetumal Bay. She lives in the one on the left and rents out the one one the right as a vacation rental. Interested? Let me know.
