Well, we got here at about 5:00 and they do not close until 6:00. The service guy was nice and cleared a spot for us to park tonight and told us they would look at the emergency brake tomorrow so they could order parts. He said with any luck we could be out of here on Tuesday. There is a hookup but the trouble is, it is in the "yard" at the back and there is a gate that is locked from 6:00 PM till 7:00 AM so that is not great. He said they would figure something out for us.
In the meantime we are parked under the canopy in front of the service department, using their free WIFI. It is quite warm tonight, we will sleep well. Things are looking better.

So far not so bad...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in the same situation in '09 before coming to your place, the solution was that the shop gate was left unlocked in the evening and I had to lock it before bed. The owner lived a few blocks away and I had his number in case of an emergency.
Looks like you have a VERY early curfew! LOL! Free wifi = priceless!
ReplyDeleteMeh, warmth and free wifi. What more could you ask for?
ReplyDeleteCook a nice meal, open a bottle of wine. It's dark outside, big deal! Party!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're in good hands. We got the SUV back, runs good but we're not risking it. We will go home today and come back for the trailer later. Have a good one.
ReplyDeleteThat is good news Chris. What was the cost for the transmission repair?
DeleteAt least you can get things looked after and be comfortable at the same time.
ReplyDeleteSending positive thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteOf all the possible problems that might have caused the smoking I'm sure the parking brake is one of the least expensive to fix. I sure hope so. Here's hoping you have some good luck and are back on the road soon.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that you have found a good shop to look after the repairs. I'll remember the symptoms you spoke of with the burning smell that led to a frozen (broken) emergency brake.
ReplyDeleteGood luck today.
Your rig is too young to smoke amigo. Kingsville - on our list of towns we pass through down to Mexico - coming this way? ;-)
