We Have Live Writer Again!

My friend John over at On The Road Of Retirement has figured out how to get Live Writer working again. You uninstall the old Live Writer and install a just released version but click on John’s Blog and he will tell you all about it.

I am using it now so if you see this post, you know it works! Thanks for searching this out John!

  1. It is getting better but still has a few bugs... making this open source is really going to be great for those of us using Live Writer

  3. I have get on this. I think though that I have to uninstall the old program first? Not sure. The thing is, I scan the "list of installed programs" and it just isn't jumping out at me. This could take some time. Thanks for the info and the link.

    1. I think it was listed in Uninstaller as "Windows Live". I uninstalled the old program first, it may upgrade itself but that was how I did it with no problems.

  4. If you uninstall Live Writer, do you lose all of your unpublished posts, etc?

    1. That I do not know. If you only have a couple then you could copy and paste them into Word for insurance. If it is any indication, the new version 'remembered' the name of my Blog so maybe a data file remains on the computer and survives the uninstall.

  5. With the new Open Live Writer the posts show up over in the Blogger editor area. I assume you will indeed lose them in any Live Writer versions. So, if you wanted to edit them you would have to use the Blogger editor. The comments should still be there with the original posts, though. Realize that I never used the old Live Writer, I'm just going on what I saw after I posted using the Open version.

  6. When I go to the control panel, uninstall programs, I don't find Windows Live Writer there. Is it under something else? When I go to Start, Programs, it comes up under Windows Live, then Windows Live Writer. But not under the control panel, uninstall. ??

    1. I found it under Windows Essentials 2012, which also has other programs in it, so I don't know if I can/want to uninstall it?

    2. I am pretty sure mine was listed under Windows Live on my Windows 10 machine. On my Windows XP Netbook it is listed under Windows Live Essentials.
