Just Wait, It Will Get Warmer!

Says my friend Brian who has spent several winters in Desert Hot Springs. Well, we are waiting.......

The nights are... what is the word... COLD! It warms up by noon, usually enough to walk around in shorts and t-shirt. The pool and hot tubs here are fed by the thermal hot springs and are always very warm and are open all night so we can always walk the fifty feet to the pool complex and have a quick dip in the hottest tub to warm up. That is what I did at about 9:00 PM last night.

Here is the forecast for the next 14 days (in Celcius):

We do not know what we are going to do after January 18 when our time here expires. We could renew for another month or we could head out over to Arizona. Our options are open and a lot depends on the chart above.

  1. I hope next year you will find your senses again and return to Mexico. ;)

  2. Hmm. That's a tough one. At least you are in doors at night. Days look good to us though. Maybe move just for a change of scenery.

  3. My Weather Network App shows a winter storm warning for Palm Springs. Watch out for snow on the mountains!

    1. I see that Rod. They are calling for snow above 1500 feet, luckily we are at 1100 feet so it should miss us. I hope!

    2. That's still too close. Earlier this week they were calling for snow in the mountains close to us, but I think the threat has passed. We can only hope so. Mind you I could be at home where it's snowing all day, every day!

  4. We keep looking for "the" place to spend our winters. Desert Hot Springs/Palm Springs has been on my list of places to explore. However, I can get that kind of weather in Seattle. Is the good news that it is a "dry" cold?

  5. On the bright side, the sun is shining where you are too. We don't mind chilly overnights, and it looks like great daytime hiking weather. Oh, that's right...you're not hikers!

  7. We like to see the temperatures rising for our return to the desert on January 5th.

We have firmed up our 2015 travel plans and have booked in to Caliente' Springs Resort, DHS, for all of February and March. Before that, January will have us visit Lake Pleasant, AZ followed by one week in Canyon Vista, Gold Canyon, AZ and spending the last two + weeks in Yuma.

    1. Hopefully Arizona will be a little warmer than it is here. We will probably head out that way ourselves.

  8. Cool nights are great for sleeping as long as it warms up during the day. We've had some chilly nights here in Mazatlán. We sure miss you guys at happy hour though.

  9. Aren't you getting tired of spending your winters waiting for warm weather? It has cooled off over night here in Mazatlan which is great for sleeping and the days are perfect. Today a bit cloudy but 24C at 10am. Life is good!
