Day Of The Kings

Today is the Twelfth Day Of Christmas, or Three Kings Day. It is the day Mexican children receive gifts from the Three Kings who visit every home during the night. This morning we were awoken by fireworks at around 7 am. We got up to watch an endless procession of children and their parents walking through the RV Park to a house at the back and returning with a ball and a toy. We walked over to see what was going on and it appears that the owners of the RV Park and small motel here are treating all the neighbourhood children to some gifts. Each child got a ball and a toy. The boys got a car and the girls, a doll. There must have been over two hundred children go up to the door during the couple of hours we were watching and they were still coming when we got back from our haircuts at 1:00. It is heartwarming to see people here, who really have very little, share with those who have less. There are many happy children in the barrio today!

On Edit: The owner told us tonight that there were over 1000 neighborhood kids given gifts that day. For many of them, this was their only gift.
