Puebla to Minatitlan

Today was a good drive! I really like days when we cover a lot of territory and today was one of those. We said our goodbyes and were gone by 10:30. Just as we were loading the car onto the dolly, a propane truck pulled into the RV park so that saved us a lot of hassle of finding a place to fill up. They charge a tiny bit more but the convenience is well worth the extra.

We found Mex 150 heading East very easily, traffic was light and the road is very good for the first couple of hundred kilometres and then it turned very pot-holy. We drove towards Veracruz, turned off onto Mex 145 and made it to Minatitlan before the sun started to go down at about 5:30. It was a 570 KM drive and we are now nestled down behind a shopping centre after having given the parking lot attendant a $50 Peso tip to watch out for us. He came over a couple of minutes later and asked us to move a little to a safer spot.

We found a nice little restaurant in the mall where I ordered Fish Filet Veracruz. It was delicious! I am going to have to find a good recipe for this dish because the few times I tried to make it it did not turn out as good as tonight. It is a white fish filet cooked in a sauce of tomatoes, onions, olives, capers, bay leaf and olive oil. Seeing how we are actually in the State of Veracruz, it is an authentic dish for the area. It was $90 Pesos ($8.75). What hurt worse was when I tallied up the Autopista tolls for today and found they came to over $120 CAN! Ouch!

To counter that, I found an Italian Coffee Company outlet in the mall that provides free WIFI! Life is complicated, but good.

Tomorrow night we will be in Villahermosa in an RV Park. The adventure continues!
