We Have Elections In Canada Too

The Provincial election here in British Columbia will be on May 14, 2013. The "Liberals" are in power now. They are our right wing party. We also have a "Conservative" party which competes with the "Liberals" for being the most right wing. The Liberals are in trouble for making massive changes to BC's sales tax system after promising they would not do it.

The Premier, Gordon Campbell, resigned in disgrace and was replaced by Christy Clark, a former radio talk show host who has been unspectacular in her new job to say the least. We voted on what to do with the sales tax mess and the people overwhelmingly said to put it back the way it was. That was her job and she is dragging her feet. Her foot dragging (among other things) will cost her the Government.

My horse in the race is the New Democratic Party, lead by our friend and ex-neighbor from Victoria, Adrian Dix. He is a very smart guy, much smarter than me.  He is also young and energetic and will do a good job.

Right now the NDP is far in the lead:

New Angus Reid poll for BC:

NDP 49%
Libs 26%
BC Con 16%
Greens 7%

Adrian Dix. He looks smart, doesn't he?

  1. Have always laughed that the BC "Liberals" are so NOT liberal. I hate Christy Clark (Rocket has interactive TV with her when she's on...he yells at her). My Sister was at SFU (Political Science) with her, says she was pig headed and nasty! Can't wait for the NDP (my party) to win in May. My riding will of course never vote the NDP in with West Vancouver being part of our riding but I'll vote NDP.

    1. Yes, in Canada "Liberals" are anything but liberal and "Conservatives" are anything but conservative.

  2. I think the Angus Reid poll pretty much sums up most people's views of Christy Clark and her party. Let's hope things stay the way they are until the Spring election.

    1. It would sure be nice to see our share get over that 50% threshold though. Still, the way election mathematics works, that 49% would give us a very comfortable majority.

  4. I don't really follow politics, but that Christy Clark lady doesn't look like she's a very nice person. She has that look about her, like she thinks her poop doesn't stink.

I like your guy Croft, maybe it's time for a good change in this province.

Can't wait to get out there and vote!!!
