Safe and Sound in Deming!
What a great trip today. We sacrificed Interstate 10 in favor of AZ 60/70 and New Mexico 70. The road was in great shape most of the way with a slight construction delay near Globe AZ but otherwise clear and smooth, specially the New Mexico part.
The Honda wanted to run, ignoring it's 27 years of age and almost 300,000 KM on the clock. On one particular stretch of the New Mexico secondary road it found a deserted straight stretch and snuck up to just under 100 MPH before I reigned it back! It drove like a new car today. Almost seven hours of driving for $12 worth of gas. Ya gotta love these US gas prices.
We got advice from Rae about the Grand Hotel in Deming for $48 but upon arriving there we found a new Days Inn for $47 including a full breakfast so we picked that.Breakfast is always $15 for us so that means we got the room for $33. Not bad, great WIFI as well.
With the gas prices it makes me want to rv in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding. I gotta say, I'm looking forward to arriving in the United States with the motorhome's gas tank on empty!

ReplyDeleteHeard a funny noise as I left your motorhome tonight. Investigated, and it was just sitting there whimpering softly at being left behind. I'll try to keep it from feeling too terribly lonely while you are gone.
ReplyDeleteWe spend a lot of time in that rig! Some years, more than in our house as our son often reminds us with, "Why don't you sell that house and just travel?"
