    SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT

    Now - Wednesday, Apr 9, 7:00am
...HOT DESERT TEMPERATURES THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK...
HIGH PRESSURE AND VERY DRY AIR ACROSS THE DESERT SOUTHWEST WILL RESULT IN THE HOTTEST DESERT TEMPERATURES SO FAR THIS YEAR. HIGHS ON WEDNESDAY WILL REACH THE UPPER 90S AROUND THE PHOENIX AREA...AND COULD CLIMB TO 100 AROUND YUMA...EL CENTRO...AND BLYTHE. SIMILAR TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY BEFORE TEMPERATURES RETREAT INTO THE UPPER 80S THIS WEEKEND. WHILE NOT AS WARM...TEMPERATURES EAST OF PHOENIX AROUND GLOBE AS WELL AS IN PARTS OF JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK WILL CLIMB INTO THE MID TO UPPER 80S THROUGH FRIDAY.
WHILE IT IS NOT UNCOMMON TO SEE TEMPERATURES THIS WARM IN EARLY APRIL...IT IS THE FIRST STRETCH OF HOT WEATHER SINCE LAST YEAR. REMEMBER TO STAY HYDRATED AND TRY TO LIMIT OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES TO EARLY IN THE MORNING OR EARLY EVENING. TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS IF YOU MUST BE OUTSIDE DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS AND BE AWARE OF THE SIGNS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION OR HEAT STROKE.

  1. You finally got some hot weather, just think of all the money you would have saved in fuel if you had just hung out in Arizona all winter.
