I use my Asus Netbook when I am laying in bed as it is small enough to handle. Recently the power cord started to fail and now it will not charge at all. I suspect a broken wire inside the cable. I have a spare cable at home so I am going to try to get by with the tablet.
So far I hate the damn thing as my finger is way too big for the tiny "Virtual" keyboard. It took me five minutes to type this!

Get a keyboard! Amazon has lots of bluetooth keyboards for the Samsung line. It will help A LOT! I've got one for mine.
ReplyDeleteKeyboard or a stylus. Stylus is too slow for me, but I think you're a hunt and peck typist anyway, so it would work fine for you and would be easier to use in bed than a keyboard. You can pick up at stylus at Office Depot or Walmart and they're pretty cheap.
ReplyDeleteYou figured me out! I am indeed a "hunt and peck" typist! If I was doing your job with this damn tablet, I would be earning about ten cents an hour! After I learned French! I will find a stylus.
DeleteGot one, a Targus, orange so I don't lose it. Marked $16.99 at Office Max, marked down to $12,95 and charged $6 at the till. Capitalism may not be all that bad.
DeleteA stylus works for Suzie's I phone and I Pad mini I just have a Mac book pro so don't need either. That should get you by until you return home.
ReplyDeleteGeorge, you get up so early in the morning I doubt you spend much time typing in bed.
DeleteSame issue. I have an HP tablet my U.S. employer gave me. You've never seen me use it and only because it is so difficult to type on.
ReplyDeleteI have a keyboard, but more importantly now, after a number of micro USB "socket" failures, I do not leave any device plugged in if I am using it. The cord ends up flexing the connection where the socket mounts to the board inside the device and the things fail.
ReplyDeleteBut I have used a bluetooth keyboard and mouse even on a small android phone with a 3.5 inch screen and it worked OK. If one added a Chromecast to an HDMI TV, you are all set.
Nice to hear from you mike! We have wonered about you. You are not traveling or blogging?
DeleteSome years ago I started placing a loop in my power cords where they enter the new laptop - then taping it so there is no strain at the connector. This has alleviated the oft problem of a wiring breaking at the connector - which happens all too often - no more..
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed where mine broke. I will have to try your trick.
