Norma called from the bathroom this morning, "There's no water"! We were frozen. She turned on the pump and it worked. Phew, dodged that bullet. The hose is frozen solid. My choices are, 1) go outside and freeze my hands while I undo the hose and try to stuff it in the cab to thaw and then clean up the mess after it does or, 2) pour another coffee and wait for the temperature to rise a bit. I am tending towards #2.

And we came south for the winter because.......?

I just called Honda and the part is not in yet. She is sure it will be on the truck this morning and will be installed by noon. We will see. The rental has to be returned by 1:00 or rented for another day.

    1. It reminds me of being home for the winter. As Donna Summer said, "We shall survive."

  7. Just a word of caution. The hose might have been plugged by the first flow of ice chips that formed and then jammed in there somewhere causing a blockage. hoses with pressure on them and ice blocked will often destroy the ends and whatever they are connected to, like the spigot and the water inlet fixture on the outside of the RV. Those are a bear to replace.... if you can even find one that fits.

Best suggestion whenever an inlet hose gets blocked for whatever reason, is to disconnect both ends. If you cannot turn the incoming water off then the spigot is already frozen and it may be just a matter of time before it breaks something in there.

If water does still come out of the spigot, great, Just disconnect the other end of the hose, too, and lay in the sun, if you have it. If the hose is still flexible at all, then it is not frozen solid so just coil it up, if you can, and connect the ends together before putting it underneath to thaw out.

We survived -9 below 0 in Fallon last month for two days but I was out with the hair dryer both nights at 2:30am thawing the things that were not flowing so no damages. I caught it quickly enough.

The real problem in really cold weather is having the hot and cold drain lines and valves freeze up so you cannot get the water out of the system. Now that is a mess to deal with, for sure.

    1. It was still frozen at 2:30 PM so I disconnected everything and laid the hose out in the sun. The spigot was frozen and I could not turn it off so I will wait and listen.

    1. Hmmm... According to Chris it was 1C in SMA this morning. Not quite t-shirt time. The Canucks are due for a win. Luongo made the Olympic team.
