Lady of Guadalupe Day (Almost)

I just remembered what the celebrations on Saturday night were for. It was Our Lady of Guadalupe day in Mexico. The Lady of Guadalupe was the Saint taken by Father Miguel Hidalgo and his revolutionaries when they kicked the Spanish out of Mexico in the revolution that started in 1810. The Lady is held in very high regard in Mexico and her symbol graced the center of the first Mexican flag.

Her day is celebrated with processions, music and fireworks – all the makings of a great party here in Mexico.

EDIT: The actual holiday is not until next weekend. This must have been a practice...
