Repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

Last night President Obama stepped up to the plate and called on Congress to repeal the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, an immoral policy that forces American soldiers to lie about their sexual orientation and prevents LGBT people from serving openly in the US military. It is far past time to get rid of this shameful legislation and accept the fact that “All people are created equal…”. I applaud the President for this progressive action.

If you want a glimpse of the frustration and the de-humanizing experience of having a gay partner serving in the US military under the present rules, do yourself a favour and read this post in Pam’s House Blend Blog.

  1. Hi Croft. Thanks for this post and for standing up for gays. One of the main reasons Andrew and I are living here in Mexico is because he can't be in USA more than three months at a time, being a New Zealander. If the "don't ask, don't tell" policy gets revoked, that might be one step closer to when same sex couples legally married can immigrate.

We enjoyed meeting you here in San Jose del Tajo RV Park at Guadalajara. We've been following your antics ever since. Our antics are on andrewanddave.com. We hope to meet again sometime.

Thanks again for standing up for us gays.

  2. As usual Mr. Obama gave a beautiful speech. As someone who voted for him I wish his follow through was a little better but I've got to say it was a hell of a year! Maybe this year of crap was what he needed to get angry and kick people around to get things done. Let's hope so. I know gay's hoped he'd support them & he hasn't done much but at least it's a step. Of course, the Prez can only do so much without Congressional backing & there sure isn't much of that with the Bickerson's we have in Congress.

Have a cerveza for me Croft.
